Blanche Stonecipher Hill

Blanche Stonecipher Hill, 88, of Elizabethton, Tenn., formerly of Nebo, N.C., and Hampton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness.
She was a daughter of the late Coy C. Greene and Nora B. Guy Greene. Though born in Avery County, N.C., she spent her entire childhood in Carter County. After spending many years in McDowell County, N.C., caring for underprivileged children, she returned to Carter County in 1991. She has remained an inactive member of Nebo First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Stonecipher; her second husband, William D. Hill; one son, Barry Stonecypher; five sisters, Violet Lyons, Ella Whitehead, Betty Owens, Mary Isabelle Greene and Modest Creasey; and two brothers, Edgar Greene and William T. Greene.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Sandra Stonecipher of Chucky, Tenn., and Elaine Doshier and husband Donnie of Arkansas; one son, Larry Stonecypher and wife Betty of Elgin, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Stonecypher of Elizabethton; eight grandchildren, Carla Potter of Elizabethton, David Stonecypher of Unicoi, Paul Stonecypher of Maryland, Mike Stonecypher of Illinois, Jeff Stonecypher, Tiffany Wood, Michael Wood and Alexis Doshier, all of Arkansas; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Velma Clemmons of Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Peggy Repass Greene of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to honor the life of Blanche Stonecipher Hill will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. David Siebenaler, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Joel Crisp, soloist. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the funeral service in the chapel, or at the home of a niece and her husband, Louise and Dennis Stevens, 115 Headrick Lane, Elizabethton, at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Caris Hospice for all the love and care shown to Blanche and her family.
