Aillen Woodby McKinney

Aillen Woodby McKinney, 90, of Hampton, went to be with the Lord and her husband on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at her residence. Aillen was born in Relief, N.C., the daughter of the late Oscar and Lydia Miller Woodby. She had lived in Carter County for 80 years.
Aillen was an active member of Simerly Creek Believers Fellowship Church. She was a retired employee of Hillview Nursing Home after 36 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Byrl McKinney; three brothers, Emmert, Hayes and Clayton Woodby; and a daughter-in-law, Sharon McKinney.
Survivors include her children: daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Emmett and husband Larry, Elizabethton, son, Larry McKinney and Fran Weddle, Hampton, and son and daughter-in-law, Sam McKinney and wife Patricia, Hampton; one grandson, Todd McKinney; two granddaughters, Julie and husband Vaughn Simerly Jr., Hampton, and Lori Watson and husband Ben, Elizabethton; two great-grandchildren, Justin Simerly, Hampton, and Loren Watson, Elizabethton; sisters, Avenell Arnett and Jean and the Rev. Clarence Phillips, Hampton; brothers, Conley and Mary Sue Woodby, Van and Ray Woodby, Ken and Linda Woodby, Dennis Woodby and Alvin and Sue Woodby, all of Hampton; sister-in-law, Lennie Woodby, Hampton; two very special nephews, Randy Woodby, Birmingham, Ala., and Kelvin Woodby, Knoxville; and special friend, Janice McKinney.
The funeral service for Aillen Woodby McKinney will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, September 25, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim Holtsclaw and the Rev. B.F. McKinney Jr. officiating. Music will be by the Simerly Creek Believers Fellowship Church Quartet. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 26, in the McKinney Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to meet at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, to go to the cemetery, are Todd McKinney, Vaughn Simerly Jr., Justin Simerly, Ben Watson, Joe Bagby, Ed Morton and David Holtsclaw. Honorary pallbearers are Kinnie McKinney, John L. McKinney, Mike Teague, Dannie McKinney, Ed Simerly, Steve Holtsclaw, David Stevens, Steve Forrester, Barney McKinney and her church family, friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Saturday to go the cemetery.
