“But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
Beulah Street, 85, Roan Mountain, passed away at her residence surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, January 2, 2016. A native of Roan Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Myrtle (Birchfield) McKinney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Lee, Ray and Jack McKinney, and a sister, Helen Tolley.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 67 years, Dillard Street; a son, Roy Street and wife Jeanette, Roan Mountain; five daughters and their spouses, Charlotte and Jim Smith, Vanessa and Ralph McKinney, Teresa and Raymond Stout, Chandrea and Richard Shell, all of Roan Mountain, and Missi and Dana Crawford, Elk Park, N.C.; a sister, Louise Hughes, Roan Mountain; and a brother, R.L. McKinney and wife Juanita, Elizabethton.
Her legacy of love also lives on through her extended family, many friends, and the grandchildren she adored, including grandsons Lawrence Street, Joshua Crawford, Cody Street and Dalton Shell; granddaughters Emily Gray, Sarah Hardin, Ondrea McCourry and Ashley Crawford; great-grandchildren Kaylee and Jacob Street, Jayden and Hadley Gray, Bryson Hardin and Dillon and Danny McCourry; and a special niece, Kendra Childers.
Perhaps her greatest joy was serving others. With an unwavering faith and a heart filled with love, she was a blessing to all who knew her. Her love and hugs will be remembered by her cherished Heaton Creek community and her church family at Roan Mountain Seventh Day Adventist. Her care and love also extended to those she considered her “adopted” children: nieces Annette Stang and Renee Durham, Harold and Linda Miller, Sam Johnson and Brian Crouch.
The family will receive friends at the home or in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, on Tuesday, January 5, from 5 p.m. until a Celebration of Life Service at 7 p.m. with Elder Kurt Styron, Pastor Mike Mnich and Pastor Darrell Holly officiating. Music will be under the direction of Gil Filsinger and Erin Raines. A graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet the family at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Mrs. Street’s sons-in-law and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to the ACS Food Pantry (265 Heaton Creek Road, Roan Mountain, TN 37687) in memory of Mrs. Street, a faithful volunteer and supporter. Special thanks to the caregivers who assisted her daughters through the journey to her eternal home: Susie Roberts, Shannon Ashley and Bennie Roesel.
