Charles Leonard Yerton

Charles Leonard Yerton, 71, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Syracuse, N.Y., he was the son of the late Charles and Cora Post Yerton.
Mr. Yerton had been an engineer with Sprint. He was a retired Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had also served in the U.S. Army. He served in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Yerton attended Heartland Fellowship, Elizabethton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Daniels Yerton, and a beloved dog, Muffy.
Those left to cherish his memory include a son, Charles Yerton and his wife Shannon, Johnson City; a grandson, Keldan Yerton, Johnson City; a daughter, Roberta Reed, Elizabethton; two granddaughters, Adriona Reed and Danielle Reed and two step-daughters, Colleen Stout and Michelle Reed, both of Elizabethton. His pets, Sophie, Spike and Beardy, also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Charles Leonard Yerton will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Pastor Marvin Slagle officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Shaw Air Force Base Honor Guard. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday.
