Two boaters were rescued from the shore of Watauga Lake after the boat they were in capsized.
The Carter County Rescue Squad and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency responded to Watauga Lake after the boaters called 911 to report the bass boat they were in was sinking. The boaters reported they had launched from the Rat Branch boat ramp but were not sure of their location other than to tell dispatchers they could see the marina.
Rescuers found the two boaters on the shoreline of Watauga Lake directly across from Lakeshore Marina. Rescue personnel advised 911 dispatchers that the two boaters had been able to reach the shore under their own power and both said they did not need any medical attention.
The TWRA is investigating the boating accident.
