Michael Todd Montgomery

Michael Todd Montgomery, 60, of 215 East Mill Street, Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016, at his residence, following an extended illness. Michael was born in Carter County to Bonnie Louise Tipton Montgomery, of the home, and the late Oral Condon Montgomery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Whitehead Montgomery, in 1993; his infant brother, Jack Montgomery; and an aunt, Joy Laws.
Michael had worked in the Maintenance Department at ETSU and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially his grandson, Zach. Michael loved baseball and collecting knives.
Those left to cherish his memory, in addition to his mother, include his son, Matthew Montgomery, of the home; Rachel Montgomery of Hampton; three grandchildren, Zachary Mahoney, Mason Montgomery and Andy Montgomery; and two sisters, Tami Montgomery Peters of Johnson City and Marcia Braswell of Elizabethton.
A service to honor the life of Michael Todd Montgomery will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 22, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Delbert Storie officiating. A eulogy will be provided by his friend, Steve Wandell. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from noon until 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Steve Wandell, John Peters, Mike Collins, Chris Blevins, Blake Braswell, Johnny Tipton and Scott Tipton. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Tipton, Shane Mahoney, Rick Braswell, Jason Braswell, Zach Mahoney, Noah Braswell, Andy Montgomery and Mason Montgomery. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Cancer Society, C/O Lou Cooter, 415 Washington Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643, in honor of Michael.
