Steven Michael Williams

Steven Michael Williams, 55, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Duke University Hospital after a courageous battle of an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Mark Williams and Peggy Pierce Williams.
Steven was a 1979 graduate of Unaka High School and a retired employee of the Carter County Highway Department. He attended Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. His hobbies were riding dirt bikes, music and playing with his grandkids.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Williams.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Sherry Coffey Williams; two children, Joshua Williams, Kingsport, and Whitney Hankins and husband Jonathan, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Natalee Williams, Caleb Hankins, Gracie Williams, A.J. Williams and Joshua Hankins; his brother, Terry Williams, Elizabethton; his sister, Lisa Brown and husband Keith, Hickory, N.C.; and two nieces, Kelly and Jessica Brown, both of Hickory, N.C.
A memorial service for Steven Michael Williams will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Johnson and the Rev. Mark Potter officiating. The eulogy will be given by his daughter, Whitney. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at his residence.
