A slow start would be the downfall of the Lady Warriors Tuesday as they hosted the University High Lady Bucs.

After scoring four goals in the first five minutes of the game, the Lady Bucs were able to stampede out to a 12-0 win Tuesday.

“The first five minutes of the game just killed us,” Happy Valley head coach Eddie Morrell said. “We have to learn to get off to a better start . The girls need to play whistle to whistle.”

In the last eight minutes of the contest, the Lady Warriors were able pick up the pace as they took some shots, Morrell said. Lady Warriors Bailey McGee had some good plays in the latter part of the game, Morrell said.

“McGee had some good runs on defensive,” he said. “She played both sides of the ball really well.”

Morrell also said that both Lauren Davis and Courtney Morrell played a crucial role in helping the Lady Warriors pick up the pace in the second half.

Despite the loss, Morrell said he is seeing some improvements from his Lady Warriors, who are now in the third year of having a soccer team.

“I see drastic improvements from last year’s team,” Morrell said. “We just have to get off to better starts, but that is something we can easily figure out.”

Next up for the Lady Warriors will be a trip to Sullivan South, where they will face off with their second-straight Three Rivers Conference opponent.
