Delores “Dale” Goins Blevins

Delores “Dale” Goins Blevins, age 77, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Salisbury, NC she was the daughter of the late Ernest Eugene and Nellie Frances Blaylock Houpe. She retired from Reynolds Aluminum and liked being a homemaker. Mrs. Blevins was a loving and caring daughter, mother and grandmother and had been nominated for “Cook of the Week” in the Elizabethton Star. She loved animals, especially her dog, Precious. She also enjoyed crafts and flower arranging. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jenny Hatley. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, James H. Blevins Jr., Elizabethton, TN; two daughters, Regina Heaton and husband Jeff, Elizabethton, TN and Crystal Jacobs and husband Glen, Knoxville, TN; five grandchildren, Chad Hatley and wife Jill, Devin Fox, Arista Metcalf, Angel Heaton and Annie Heaton and six great-grandchildren, Cooper, Madison, Landon, Donevin, Savannah (a special caregiver) and Zachery. Four special friends, Doris Sammons, Vicky Whisenhunt, Tammy Hyder and Pat Warner also survive.
A service to honor the life of Delores “Dale” Goins Blevins will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Saturday, September 17, 2016 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Mr. David Irick, minister officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the service or at the residence of her daughter, Regina and Jeff at any time.
Committal and entombment service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 18, in the Glenwood Cemetery, Heritage Mausoleum, Bristol, TN. Active pallbearers will be Chad Hatley, Landon Ford, Donevin Johnson, Jerry Wagner, Nathan Jenkins and Luke Hyder. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 2:15 p.m. Sunday. Those who prefer memorial in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Animal Shelter of their choice.
