Police arrested a Bristol man over the weekend after he reportedly caused a disturbance at a local hospital emergency room.
Officers of the Elizabethton Police Department arrested John Yarbrough, 54, 118 Winchester Lane, Bristol, on Saturday and charged him with disorderly conduct.
Shortly before 2 p.m., officers with the EPD responded to Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a 911 caller reported a patient in the emergency room was causing a disturbance.
When officers arrived, they spoke with hospital security personnel, who told the officers a man later identified as Yarbrough was being disorderly and refusing to comply with orders from medical staff to stay in his room. The security officer told police Yarbrough had been placed in handcuffs due to his refusal to obey medical staff directions.
EPD Officer Trevor Salyer said he spoke with Yarbrough and noted the man appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicant.
“Also while speaking with Mr. Yarbrough, he refused to comply with officer’s directions and commands,” Salyer said. “Mr. Yarbrough continued to be argumentative and verbally resistive throughout the entire incident.”
Salyer arrested Yarbrough and transported him to the Carter County Detention Center, where he later posted bond and was released from custody. Yarbrough is scheduled to appear in Carter County General Sessions Court on March 13.
