A tradition spanning over a decade, the East Tennessee Christian Home and Academy is expecting this year’s “A Legacy of Love” event to be quite an eventful night.
The event, which serves as a benefit dinner and auction for ETCHA, is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 28, at Boones Creek Christian Church from 6 to 8 p.m.
ETCHA Director of Development Ron Marvel said this year’s event is featuring special guest musician Leslie Dudney Jordan, member of the Dove and Grammy nominated Album of the Year group All Sons & Daughters with David Leonard.
“We’re very fortunate to have her this year,” Marvel said. “One of the board members is kin to her and reached out about performing at the event. She was very receptive and we’re excited about welcoming her. People that come out will be in for a treat as she performs throughout the night.”
A Legacy of Love is a free event but donations are encouraged to help ETCHA with their mission of impacting local youth.
ETCHA is a ministry dedicated to “Growing Girls God’s Way” and has been a staple in Northeast Tennessee for numerous years.
“This is one of our bigger events for the year,” Marvel said. “It’s always a fun time. We have different businesses, churches and organizations that have stepped up to the plate to help the program and we always appreciate their support.”
The silent auction is scheduled to take place from 6 to 8 p.m. while the full-course dinner gets underway at 6:30 p.m.
“The event is free to attend, all we ask for are donations during the night,” Marvel said.
ETCHA went through a busy 2016 and have continued their momentum into the new year.
“We’ve got a few more weeks to go for our annual shoe drive,” he said. “It’s been such a success this year. We’ve also got our golf tournament coming up soon, which always seems to be popular. We hold these events to help us continue our mission of serving the children in our area and providing them a safe environment.”
While the event is free to attend, interested individuals wanting to participate are encouraged to RSVP by April 24 by two different methods — calling (423) 542-4423 or visiting the East Tennessee Christian Home and Academy Facebook.
