It came down to double overtime Tuesday as the Elizabethton Cyclones visited Unicoi for a District 1-AA tournament contest.
When everything was said and done, the Blue Devils walked away with a 2-1 win over the Cyclones, ending ‘Betsy’s season.
The deciding goal came from Unicoi’s Sam Murillo who knocked one into the net with barely any time left in sudden death.
Murillo also had the first goal of the contest when he scored at the 60th minute to give Unicoi a 1-0 lead in the second period.
With ten minutes left to play Elizabethton’s Hayden Townsend tied things up with a penalty kick to send things into overtime.
The Blue Devils will now travel to Sullivan South for the district championship.
