Gary Dean Shelton “Beany”

Gary Dean Shelton “Beany,” 69, 1902 Hwy. 91, Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, May 11, 2017.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Frances Trivett Shelton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 15 years, Sherry Lynn Shelton; two daughters, Candy Shelton of Blountville and Dena Laws and husband Wesley Laws of Elizabethton; two step-sons, Adam Hinkle and Kermit Hinkle, both of Elizabethton; one sister, Shirley Langham of Elizabethton; three brothers, Raymond Shelton of Locus Grove, Ga., Roy Shelton and Bobby Shelton, both of Elizabethton. Also special friends, Frank and Bertha Davis, numerous family members, several nephews and one niece also survive.
Gary was a 1967 graduate of Unaka High School. He retired from Snap-on Tools after 18 years of dedicated service.
Gary loved to share his faith in the Lord with all others. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. No matter how good or bad the situation he raised his hand in praising the Lord. He was a member of New Liberty Freewill Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at New Liberty Freewill Baptist Church on Sunday, May 21, 2017, between the hours of 5 and 6 p.m., at 110 Peters Hollow Road, Elizabethton, Tenn. Church services to follow.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Amedisys Hospice. A special thank you to nurse Emily. In addition, thank you to Restore Life. It was Gary’s wish to help others in life as well as in death.
