Applications are still available for one of the most popular events of the annual Covered Bridge Celebration.
Each year, the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce hosts The Little Mr. & Miss Hillbilly Contest as part of the annual summer festival in Elizabethton.
“It tends to be one of the highlights of the festival,” Chamber Director Tonya Stevens said. “Folks look forward to seeing the kids come out in their hillbilly outfits.”
Local business Double C Western Supply will once again serve as the sponsor for the contest according to Stevens. Double C Western Supply is a family-owned retail store that offers a variety of cowboy boots, hats, accessories, tack, and saddles. The store is located at 500 Railroad Street in Elizabethton.
“We appreciate Diana Blevins and her business for making this available for our Celebration,” Stevens said. “They graciously support us and provide the trophies for the contest.”
Applications for the contest can be picked up in person at the Chamber of Commerce office at 500 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Elizabethton, or can be found online through the Chamber’s website http://www.elizabethtonchamber.com by clicking on “Covered Bridge Celebration” under the “Events” tab.
