Harry E. Sams, 91, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Pine Ridge Care & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on December 22, 1925 to the late Silas E. and Grace Fair Sams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mildred Webb Sams.
Mr. Sams was a United States Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He retired as an inspector from Raytheon.
Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Eddie Sams and his wife Janie, and Glen Sams and his wife Robin, all of Elizabethton; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service to honor the life of Harry E. Sams will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Doug Hinshaw officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 13.
