State Party Chair Mary Mancini fires up democrats in Carter County

Nashville – Tennessee Democratic Party chair, Mary Mancini spoke to a room full of excited Democrats who appeared ready to lead a resurgence in the Upper East. Mancini spoke about concerns over the Republican health care bills that she said would make healthcare more expansive and less accessible for Tennesseans.
“The latest version of TrumpCare is worse than the first one. 22 million people will lose coverage, people with preexisting conditions will be end up paying more and vital funding for the opioid epidemic will be cut. This bill would devastate rural Tennessee, likely resulting in more hospitals closing,” Mancini said.
Democrats aren’t waiting until the next election. They spent much of the meeting talking about the work they will do now to win elections next year. Topics included organizing, door knocking and phone banking to talk to voters in every neighborhood, and recruiting strong candidates for offices at every level.
“People in this state are struggling and Republicans have control of every part of government and their policies only help people at the top. We are going to get out into every community and remind people that Democrats are the party that helps working families do better. When Democrats organize, we win.”
Since the election, protests and marches have sprung up across Tennessee and the country. The Democratic National Committee, or DNC, has launched a program called ‘Resistance Summer” to give newly engaged citizens direction on how to channel their energy into winning elections for Democrats.
“We have hired organizers who will work with activists and county parties like this one to knock on doors and call voters starting right now. There is too much at stake to wait for next year. Democrats are already at hard at work fighting for Tennesseans,” Mancini said.
