While the focus typically falls to big chain stores. Businesses in Historic Downtown Elizabethton are also taking part in the endeavor.

“We have some of our stores offering special deals during the holiday,” said Cathy Shoun, Downtown Business Association president. “We’re encouraging people to visit the different stories and see what types of bargains are offered.”

Visitors shopping downtown will also have the opportunity to see some of the various bits of work that have been accomplished over the months, the president added.

Work is currently underway to place the remaining mosaics in the breezeway between the Coffee Company and Sweetsie Treats. Once completed, the DBA is focusing their attention to the breezeway beside Jiggy Ray’s.

Offering an appealing downtown experience is the goal of the businesses, Shoun added, and the president that the round of support the businesses are receiving from the public.
