James Stacy Harrell Jr., 56, of Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at his residence after a brief illness. He was born March 6, 1961 in Elizabethton to James Stacy Harrell Sr. and the late Christine Caudill Harrell.
James served in the United States Army. He was formerly employed by North American Rayon Corporation. He was a member of Pearce’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church but attended Southside Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife of 34 years, Mary Mullins Harrell; five children, Jennifer Owens Peters and husband Michael Peters Jr., Dustin S. Harrell and wife Brittney, Kattie Harrell, Connie Harrell McCarter and husband Wesley and Ruthie Harrell; 13 grandchildren; a sister, Angela Montgomery and husband Bill; and a brother, Nathan Harrell and wife Lisa.
Funeral services for James Stacy Harell Jr. will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 15, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Michael Fritts officiating. Interment will follow in the Lyons Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dustin Harrell, Wesley McCarter, Michael Peters, Billy Montgomery, Greg Mann, Tim Bowers and David Carter. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Amedisys Hospice and Mr. Evan Mac Meade. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
