“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12
Margaret Bradford, 79, of Elizabethton, Tenn., formerly of Canton, N.C., passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Yancey County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Shelton and Lugene (Parker) Bradford. She was of the Freewill Baptist faith. She enjoyed her red birds, Bible study, bingo, puzzles, quilting, and canning with her precious friends at the Courtyard Apartments. Her greatest riches were family. Her pride and joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that covered her walls in pictures like they covered her heart.
She was also preceded in death by brothers, Ralph, H.C., Scottie, Junior, and Fred; sisters, Jettie and Kathleen; and one great-grandchild. Along with her special nieces and nephew that she raised, Alma, Eddie, and Rita.
Those left to cherish Margaret’s memory include her son, The Reverend William Dean Bradford (Vicki) of Canton, N.C., and daughter, Debra Bradford Payne of Elizabethton, Tenn.; grandchildren, Julie, Taylor, and Caleb Bradford, all of North Carolina, and Isaac Payne “mamaw’s buddy” of Elizabethton, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren of North Carolina; special friends who she considered as her adopted daughter and granddaughter, Debbie Carden and Jessica Barnett of Elizabethton, Tenn.; and all her friends at the Courtyard.
Margaret’s daughter would like to extend thanks to Hillview Health and Rehab Staff, and Doctors Vivan Clark, Jeff Farrow, Shweta Kharalkar, Makram Jurdi, Serio Diaz and Callie Montgomery, FNP for the care shown to Ms. Bradford during her sickness. Along with a very special thanks to 3rd floor nurses and staff at Sycamore Shoals for the loving care given to Ms. Bradford during her stay on comfort care. The support that was given and is still being shown to her daughter is beyond words. Ms. Bradford would be so grateful for this for her family.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 14, at 2 p.m. at Bradford Cemetery (11 Bradford Road, Mars Hill, N.C.) with her nephew, the Rev. Chris Bradford, and the Rev. Billy Dodd officiating. This obituary was lovingly written by her family. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.Tribute-services.com.
