Saturday, Nov. 4
11 a.m. — Roan Mountain 10K — Compete with runners from across the state as part of the Tennessee Running Tour. This certified 6.2 mile course is an all road (no trail!) race starting at 11 a.m. from the Campground. Day-of-race registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Picnic Shelter 3 in the Roan Mountain State Park Campground. Runners take off from the Start Line at 11 a.m. $22 pre-registration fee with T-shirt, $10 pre-registration without T-shirt. Pre-registration closed Thursday, Oct. 26. Tuesday, Nov. 7
6 p.m. — BCHET Outpost 3 Meeting will be held at Highlander BBQ. Tentative Rides on November 11 and November 15 will be discussed.
Saturday, Nov. 11
1 p.m. – 3 p.m. — Old Time Yule — Roan Mountain State Park ends the year’s events with an old-fashioned holiday celebration at the Miller Farmstead. Step back in time and experience how Christmas was celebrated years ago with traditional music and tasty treats.
Monday, Nov. 20
6 p.m. – 7 p.m. — Roan Mountain Community Christmas Tree Lighting — Come help celebrate this wonderful time of year with a community Christmas tree lighting. We will have live entertainment by Cloudland Elementary and Cloudland High School. Light refreshments will be provided while we await the arrival of Santa. A special community guest will flip the switch and the Roan Mountain Community will be aglow with Christmas spirit for the upcoming holiday season. Come out and enjoy an evening of community fellowship and excitement.

6:30 a.m. Sunrise — Early Bird Special Doorbuster — No, you won’t be fighting crowds at the mall to save a few bucks on a new television or waiting in line in the early hours of the morning to snag some “doorbuster” special…
This Black Friday, set your alarm to get out of bed early and join a Park Ranger to enjoy sunrise over Roan Mountain. No stress, no crowds, no over-hyped commercialization of your holiday weekend in an effort to make you spend more money. Just the peace and tranquility provided by observing a quiet moment of beauty in nature.
Meet a Park Ranger at the Miller Farmstead Entrance Gate just off Highway 143 in Roan Mountain State Park at 6:30 a.m. to caravan to the Farmstead Overlook for sunrise viewing. Please dress in warm layers. You may bring a camp chair and/or blankets if you choose. This program will be canceled in case of bad weather. Meet at the Farmstead Gate.
