Shirlene went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 28, 2017, after a long illness of cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Roy Wilkerson; her wonderful children, daughter Lori Wilkerson; son Nathan Wilkerson, his wife Tina and equally wonderful grandchildren Alyssa and Ryan Wilkerson, all living in Central Florida. She is also survived by her sister June Williams; her brothers and their wives, Ernest and Brenda Davis, brother Danny and Linda Davis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and relatives, all of Elizabethton, Tennessee.
Shirlene was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee, on November 23, 1937, into a family of four boys and four girls. Spiritually, her mother Hazel was the guiding light that eventually led all her children and her husband to develop a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. In Shirlene’s memory there was not a time her mother did not teach a ladies’ Sunday school class. She is still remembered and respected today by those who knew her for her wisdom and knowledge of the Scriptures.
When Shirlene left Tennessee in the summer of 1956 to pursue her dreams, she went to Washington D.C. to work for the FBI. There she met her beloved future husband Roy, who was pursuing his own dream to be a Special Agent. The Lord brought them together through that work place. They were married a little over a year later on November 1, 1957 in Oxon Hill, Maryland. They were married for 60 years.
