Randy Steve Crowe, 71, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, December 1, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was the son of the late Glenn and Ruth Farthing Crowe and was born in Elizabethton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Crowe.
Mr. Crowe was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Tri-State Air Cooled Engines where he was a manager for 47 years. He also owned his own small engine repair shop. He taught small engine repair at Science Hill High School and also at the Herman Robinson Vocational School. He was a mason and a member of the Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 F&AM. He loved cooking and gardening, especially growing tomatoes and cucumbers. He was a fan of UT football and also of the Lady Vols basketball team.
Mr. Crowe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was good to everyone he knew. He was a member of Big Springs Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, of 52 years, Brenda Emmert Crowe, of the home; a daughter, Melissa Crowe Buxton and her husband, Don, of Jonesborough; a son, Nathan Crowe and his wife, Rachel, of Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Thomas Buxton and his wife, Tiffany, of Kingsport, and Kelby Buxton, of Jonesborough; and two brothers, Terry Crowe, and his wife, Ruth, and Larry Crowe, and his wife, Gwen, all of Elizabethton. A special friend and first cousin, Kit McQueen, and a special friend, George Morton, also survive, along with several nieces and nephews.
A service to honor the life of Randy Steve Crowe will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Brother James Vaughn officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The committal service will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Thomas Buxton, Kelby Buxton, Chris McQueen, Jimmy Vaughn, Jimmy Mock, Roger Crowe and Brian Crowe. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family would like to express a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice, the Silver Angels, and the doctors and nurses at Johnson City Medical Center for the love and care shown to Mr. Crowe and to the family during his illness.
