Florine Dalton Allen, 87, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Laura Perry Dalton.
Mrs. Allen was a former owner of Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio for a number of years. She was a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church and the Young At Heart Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Allen, and a brother, John R. Dalton.
Survivors include a brother, Terry Dalton and wife Carol, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews; her brothers-in-law, Josh Allen and wife Emogene, and Hunter Allen; and her special friends, Betty Greene, Betty Chambers and the Young at Heart Ladies Sunday School Class.
We feel truly blessed to have shared our lives with Flo. She often would say that she had three adopted children, Suzanne Berry, Peggy Nave and Joel Crisp. We were taught many valuable lessons from Flo. She taught us how to be content and gracious and enjoy the simple things that life brings.
Her hands were never idle and she was so happy to make lap quilts to those in need. One of her favorite things to do was to hand out the red, white and blue quilts to the Veterans at the VA Center. She would also take quilts to the Ivy Hall Nursing Home and would love seeing the patients’ faces whenever they were given their quilt. Moma-Flo will truly be missed but loved forever.
A service to celebrate the life of Florine Allen will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Randy Johnson and the Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Music will be provided by Joel Crisp. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, will be Carl Roberson, Jeff Underwood, Ikis Nave, Jerry Warner, Les McKinney, Dennis Berry and Jim Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family and the Young at Heart Ladies Sunday School Class of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Young at Heart Ladies Sunday school Class, Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church, 1503 Riverview Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
