Virginia E. Peters

Virginia E. Peters, 89, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. She was born in Carter County on July 5, 1928 to the late John and Josie Campbell McNeal. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Peters; a son, Darrell Peters; two granddaughters, Patti Vines and Thelma Thurman; two great-grandsons, Hunter Markland and Ricky Berry; five brothers; four sisters; and a son-in-law, Antonio Murillo.
Virginia was a homemaker and a member of Full Gospel Church. She enjoyed crocheting and making quilts.
Those left to cherish her memory include five daughters, Brenda Vines, Sue Montgomery and husband Leon, Evelyn Cole, Shelby Guy and Shelia Chapman and husband Gary, all of Elizabethton, and four sons, Eddie Peters, David Cole, Roger Cole and wife Crystal and Junior Cole, all of Elizabethton. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Virginia E. Peters will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, in the Riverside Chapel at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Reverend Nathan Jennings officiating. Music will be provided by Mrs. Margaret Calderon. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter, Brenda Vines, 118 Pebble Lane, Elizabethton, at other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Chapman and Leon Montgomery. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Judy and Victor Deloach and the entire staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the love and care that was given to Virginia for the five years that she was a resident there.
