Linda Mellon Campbell

Linda Mellon Campbell, 73, of Hampton, Tenn., entered the gates of Heaven on Saturday, January 20, 2018, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers. She was born May 14, 1944 in Cleveland County, N.C., to the late Gaston Daniel Mellon and Corene Porter Mellon.
Linda was a homemaker and an exceptional mother who loved music of all kinds, especially Freddy Fender. She was known in the community simply as “Nanny.” She loved freely and joyfully. Linda expressed her love often, leaving no doubt of her feelings. She may have gotten mad on occasion, but nothing ever changed the fact that she still loved you. If Linda could have chosen traits to pass along, she would ask for us to see the good in others and always choose kindness.
Waiting on Linda in Heaven were her husband of 42 years, Noe Earl Campbell; her parents; and her nine siblings, Charles, Norris, Elizabeth, Red, Jim, Dale, Don, Bill and Danny Mellon.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Randy Mellon of Hickory, N.C.; daughter, Donna Brock and husband Willis, of the home; son, Eugene Campbell and wife Kim of Roan Mountain; daughter, Sheila Simerly and husband Jason of Roan Mountain; her grandchildren, Randy Mellon and wife Sandy, Bo Mellon and wife Cassie, Logan Brock and partner Katie Gardner, Brooke Brock, Peyton Brock and partner Anna Mann, Breezy Brock, Owen Taylor Brock, Anthony Campbell, David Campbell, Hailey Simerly and KateLynn Simerly; her great-grandchildren, Michael Mellon, Cayden Gardner, Adam Mellon, Misty Mellon, Lilly Mellon, Brandon Mellon and Natalie Mellon; also, Courtney Williams, Austin Williams, Devon Polifka and Dylan Polifka, who were grandchildren of her heart.
A special thanks to Hillview Home Health and Amedysis Hospice for the superb care Linda received during her illness, her caregiver Rebekah Vaughn, who became family, her hospice nurse, Lori Ligon, who exhibited efficiency, professionalism, and genuine affection and whose greeting of “Hey there Beautiful!” never failed to elicit a smile from Linda.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life for Linda Mellon Campbell on Saturday, January 27, at Sugar Hollow Freewill Baptist Church in Roan Mountain. The family will receive friends at the church from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The family asks those in attendance to feel free to share funny stories and treasured memories. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at ALZ.org. Online condolences may be shared with the family on our website, www.tetrickfuneralhome.com.
Mrs. Campbell and her family are in the care of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. Office: (423) 542-2232. Service Information and Obituary Line: (423) 543-4917.
