Edward James Hatchett, 61, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018. He was born April 1, 1956 in Camden, N.J., to the late Joseph Edward Hatchett Sr. and Shirley Oleda Taylor Hatchett.
Mr. Hatchett had lived in Florida and Elizabethton. He attended Unaka High School. He was a painter and loved to fish.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joey Hatchett, and a sister, Dottie Sparks.
Survivors include his children, Jimmy Hatchett and Brandon Hatchett; several grandchildren; four sisters, JoAnn Hatchett, Yvonne Munsey and husband David, Shirley Capps and husband Curtis and Earlene Jolly and husband Todd; two brothers, Glenn Hatchett and wife Jennifer and Wayne Hatchett and wife Bertha; his fiancée, Leona Simerly, and her daughter, Sonia Hyder and husband Josh; his brother-in-law, Phillip Sparks; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Edward James Hatchett will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday, February 10, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brian Smith officiating. It was his wish to be cremated.
