Sizeable crowds helped usher out the Valentine’s Day vibes with a bang over the past two weeks.

The Bonnie Kate Theater recently concluded four showings of WS Gilbert’s romantic comedy “Engaged,” during the month of February.

According to theater representatives, a “good” turnout was the name of the game for each performance, which donned a handful of local and regional talents and featured an Elizabethton native, Daniel Banks, directing the production.

The four days of showing included a cast featuring Camille Cody, Stewart Clark, Mary Jackson, BJ Krug, Lindsey Kyker, John Jackson, Branden Jones, Colin Morgan and Corri Carpenter.

“Engaged” is based on the life of an upper class Victorian Englishman who proposes to a woman he meets, which results in a multitude of interesting situations.

Having the success of their “Frozen” weekend and the Valentine’s Day-based production, events coordinator Marcia Ross recently added the youth of the area will soon bring their acting chops to center stage.

Bonnie Kate is currently scheduled to host a production called “Screen Test,” featuring class students ages 6-10 along with musical theater students from T.A. Dugger Junior High and Elizabethton High School.

Ross added the current date for the performance is April 7 with two showings — 2:30 and 7 p.m.
