Phillip H. Potter

Phillip H. Potter, 86, of Elizabethton, formerly of Roan Mountain, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 8, 2018, after an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late David and Etta Julian Potter.
Phillip was a graduate of Cloudland High School. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. He was retired from McLean Trucking Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Roan Mountain.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Potter; a son, Steven M. Potter; and a brother, Kenneth Potter.
Survivors include a daughter, Laurie Milom and husband Bill, Elizabethton; a son, David R. Potter and wife Patsy, Hendersonville, Tenn.; his sisters, Jewell Hayes and husband Burnett, Elk Park, N.C., and Peggy Lewis, Lexington, N.C.; his grandchildren, Phillip R. Potter and wife Heather, Roan Mountain, Daniel L. Potter and wife Keely, Grand Junction, Colo., Mindi E. Oaks and husband David and Melissa E. Smith and husband Justin, all of Elizabethton; and his great-grandchildren, Phillip T. Potter, Madison Potter, Savannah Potter, Ava Oaks and Caleb Potter.
The graveside service for Phillip H. Potter will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
