Just a couple of months removed from a reopening, Hopwood Christian Church will welcome a new addition the facility’s sanctuary.

Pastor Tim Ross recently announced the church will hold a service Sunday, March 18, to recognize a new piece of artwork presented by Milligan College professor and church member Nick Blosser. The church is located on the Milligan campus.

The sculpted relief panel work is spread out across eight panels, each depicting stories from the Old and New Testaments. Blosser’s work becomes part of a sanctuary that is donned with stained glass windows and decorative woodwork.

“We are so pleased to receive this lovely set of relief panels as a wonderful addition to our sanctuary,” Ross said. “Everything in a sacred space like our sanctuary is dedicated to the glory of God, and Nick’s work focuses our eye and heart beyond the biblical images they portray to the God of all beauty and goodness. We will treasure this gift for many years to come.”

Ross is inviting the public to the Sunday service to view the official dedication of the artwork.

Sunday’s church schedule is:

• 8:30 a.m. – Early Service

• 10 a.m. – Sunday Service

• 11 a.m. – Second Service and Art Dedication

• Noon – Reception for Art

2018 has been a busy year for the church. The congregation spent the last seven months of 2017 having service atop Emmanuel Hill on the Milligan campus while $1.5 million of renovations were being performed at the church.

Hopwood officially reopened to the public on Jan. 14.

While the church looks to continue its growth the mission stays the same, according to Ross.

The church has been active at the same location since the mid 1820s. The congregation lends support to various local, national and international ministries and provides a hub to college and seminary students.
