Gregory Kirk “Spike” Nave, 55, Elizabethton passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at his residence. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late W.J. & Christine Pierce Nave. Gregg was a 1980 graduate of Unaka High School where he played on the baseball & basketball team. His first job was at Matheson Paint, later he worked for the Elizabethton Police Department, the Bluff City Police Department, he retired due to disability from the Carter County Sheriff Department. Gregg played in the Calvary Way Quartet and the Southern Kings. He was a member of the Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sister: Kimberly Pierce. His very special niece & buddy Madison Pierce. His aunts & uncles: Nadine Crews, Walter & Loretta Pierce, Mack Wayne Pierce, William George Pierce, Charlotte Whistant, Carol & Ray Davis and several cousins. His special friends: Tammy Andes Miller, Brook Hardin Shanks, Tommy Verran, Rusty Verran , Shane Hardin and Bill Milhorn.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brian Smith and Rev. Rusty Verran officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will follow in the Blevins Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Hayley officiating. Active Pallbearers will be: Tommy Verran, Shane Hardin, Rusty Verran, Wade Hardin, Forrest Sharp, Rick Smith, David Pierce and Greg Depew. Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of the Carter County Sheriff Department. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
