Don Forsythe went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2018.
Donald Wayne Forsythe was born on June 2, 1937 in Iron City, Tenn., to the late Algie and Gladys Forsythe. He was a graduate of Loretta High School, Loretta, Tenn., and the University of Tennessee. He served in the United States Army, during the Cuban Missile Crisis and during the Vietnam Era. He had lived in East Tennessee for several years.
Don retired from Union Carbide, Columbia, Tenn., and was also Project Manager with Mtn. View Apartments, Bristol. He was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, Elizabethton, and was also a member of the Gideons in Columbia, Tenn.
For over 12 years, he was the faithful and loving caregiver of his wife and our mother, Ann Alexander Forsythe. He was known for his great sense of humor. There was always a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. Like everyone, life threw him hard knocks, but he had such a strong faith in Jesus Christ to help him through them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother, Jack Forsythe.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ann Kendall Alexander Forsythe; his children, Kendall Forsythe Baker, Bristol, Tenn., Elizabeth Forsythe, Nashville, Tenn., and Kerry Forsythe Campbell and husband David, Elizabethton; and his grandchildren, Benjamin and Mary Kendall Campbell.
A service to celebrate the life of Don Forsythe will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 212 N. Main Street, Elizabethton, with Pastor Luis O’Bourke officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made in memory of Don to the Alzheimer’s Association, 202 Meadowview Parkway, Suite 100, Kingsport, TN 37660.
