Richard Harold Berry

Richard Harold Berry, 78, of the Poga Community of Carter County, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018, at his residence.
A native of Boone, N.C., he was the son of the late Balsam Hardy Berry and Georgia Miller Berry.
Mr. Berry retired in 1996 from Kennametal as a maintenance technician after 17 years. He served as a Carter County Constable. He was of the Baptist Faith and he loved to fish, especially deep sea fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Berry Hitechew.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Barbara “Bobbi” Berry, of the home; his children, Jackie Cuevas, Phenix City, Ala., Jimmy Berry and wife Bonnie, Blountville, Tenn., Jo Berry Hogan and fiancé Chris, Elizabethton, Tenn., and Crystal Hensley and husband Chris, Elizabethton, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Holly Hogan, U.S. Navy, Carlie Berry, Molly Berry, Alaxx Hogan, Drew Hensley and Alli Hensley; a great-granddaughter, Shiloe Bandy; two brothers, Delaney Berry and wife Betty Sue and Gary Berry and wife Kathy; a sister, Judy Poole and husband Johnny; special nephews, Kenny Cable and Keith Hitechew; special nieces, Tammy Reece and Delores Hicks; and special great-nieces, Holly Barnett and Kendall Childress. Several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Richard Harold Berry will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Donnie Cable officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Crystal Hensley. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Stout Cemetery, Butler, Tenn. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Berry, Alaxx Hogan, Drew Hensley, Kenny Cable, Donnie Cable, Gary Cable, Keith Hitechew, Jerry Hicks and Chris Hensley. Honorary pallbearers will be special friends, Bob Trivette and John Henson. The family would like to express a special thank you to Delores Hicks, Kenny and Cindy Cable, Donnie and Roberta Cable, Kathy Richards, Jerry Hicks, Lori Ligon, RN of Amedisys Hospice, and Kimberly Neilson, FNP of Medical Care, Elizabethton, for their loving care given to Mr. Berry during his illness.
