Bonnie Louise Tipton Montgomery

Bonnie Louise Tipton Montgomery, 86, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at her residence. Bonnie was born in Roan Mountain, Tenn., to the late James Blaine Tipton and Julia Ann Miller Tipton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oral Condon Montgomery; two sons, Jack Montgomery and Michael Todd Montgomery; a great-grandson, Mason Todd Montgomery; and several siblings.
Bonnie retired from Kennametal, where she worked as a press operator. She was of the Baptist faith. Bonnie was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Tami Denise Montgomery Peters and husband John of Johnson City and Marcia Beth Braswell and husband Rick of Elizabethton; her grandchildren, Jennifer Laine Braswell, Jason Adam Braswell and Nathaniel Blake Braswell, all of Elizabethton, Kimberlen Haley Bryant and Laurel Michelle Bryant, both of Johnson City, Matthew Todd Montgomery of Elizabethton and Rachel Noel Montgomery of Kingsport; her great-grandchildren, Noah Alexander Braswell, Andy Montgomery and Zachary Mahoney; her sister, Genevieve Tipton of Roan Mountain; two brothers, Ted Tipton of Hampton and Johnny Tipton of Roan Mountain; a special brother-in-law, J.E. Montgomery of Elizabethton; and a special daughter, Pam Tipton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Bonnie Louise Tipton Montgomery will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 3, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Todd Hallman officiating. Music will be provided by her great-grandson, Andy Montgomery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from noon until 2 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be John Peters, Rick Braswell, Jason Braswell, Blake Braswell, Scott Tipton, Tracy Tipton, Noah Hammons and Alex Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Tipton, Johnny Tipton and Noah Braswell. The family would like to thank Dr. Diaz, Dr. Jurdi and the staff and doctors of Amedysis Hospice, especially Debbie Hinkle, for the loving care given to Bonnie during her illness.
