James Edward “Jim” Sells

James Edward “Jim”  Sells, 70, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at his residence after an extended battle with cancer. A native of Blountville, he was a son of the late Carl Thomas Sells and Mayme Ruth Gragg Sells. Jim was a graduate of Blountville High School and attended Draughons Junior College, Nashville. He served in the Tennessee National Guard. He was retired Senior Project Manager with Precipitator Services Group. He was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents: he was preceded in death by his youngest brother: Samuel David Sells and eldest daughter & son-in-law: Robin & John Paul Mathes.

Survivors include his wife: Kimberly Olterman Sells. Four Children: James Sells, Carla Sells, Rachel Mitchell & husband Troy and Amy Waddell & husband Tommy. His Grandchildren: Kayla, Justin, Dyllan, Jessica, Danyelle, Peyton, Daltyn, Jordan, Mykayla, Kalyn, Kimmy, Cory, Connor, Davis, Hayden, Ryker and Hatter. His Great Grandchildren: Austyn, Jason, Cheyenne, Ella Ruth, Jackson & Liam. A brother & sister-in-law: Tom & Kathy Sells. Several nieces & nephews.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Dave Whitesides officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Staff of Amedisys Hospice and nurse Lori Ligon, The staff of Cancer Treatment of America, Newnan, Georgia and Oncologist Dr. Bonta & staff. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of James E. Sells to the American Cancer Society Attn: Stacy Hall, 871 N. Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, Tenn. 37909. It was his wish to be cremated.
