Sherri Hyder Carrier, 59, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at her home, after a long battle with cancer.
Sherri was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Clay and Oma Taylor Hyder of Elizabethton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Townsend, and a sister, Rose Williams.
Sherri attended Moores Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. She had been retired for several years due to disability. She worked as a CNA at Ivy Hall Nursing Home, prior to becoming disabled. She loved being a homemaker and caring for her family.
Sherri loved the ocean and was fortunate to be able to spend the last week of her life there with lifelong friends, Tonya and Deanna.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 43 years, Vaughn Carrier, of the home; three sons, Brandon Carrier, Tyler Carrier and Nathaniel Carrier, all of Elizabethton; a daughter, Crystal Carrier of Bristol; two granddaughters, Shayla and Braylee Carrier, and their mother, Sylvia, of Elizabethton; two sisters, Nancy Kinley and husband Bill of Elizabethton and Georgia Scott of Texas; a brother, Johnny Nave of Elizabethton; and her special friends, Sharon Livingston, Tonya Riddle, Deanna Leonard and Doug Slagle.
It was Sherri’s wish to be cremated and her ashes spread in the ocean with her brother Rick’s.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date at Moores Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and will be announced. Friends may call at the residence at anytime.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mountain States Home Care and Hospice, Nurses Greg Matney and Becky Eaedens, Chaplain Anna Butler for their exceptional care, Dr. Jeff Farrow, Dr. Vivian Clark and Office Staff, Dr. Justin Digby and Joey Suder of Lincare.
