Late-game runs propel Twins past Burlington

The Elizabethton Twins picked up their second straight win over the Royals in Burlington Wednesday.
Trailing 5-4 after five innings, Elizabethton scored runs in the sixth and seventh frames with Twins Lean Marrero hitting an RBI double in the sixth before Elizabethton’s Robert Molina connected on an RBI single to give the game its final 6-5 total.
Elizabethton tallied 10 hits during the win with both Alex Robles and Michael Helman each getting three hits apiece, and Helman providing two RBIs. Molina finished with two hits.
Twins pitcher Johan Quezada (1-1), after taking over in the sixth, picked up the win for Elizabethton as he tossed three innings with five strikeouts, no walks, and two hits against him. Zach Neff (S, 2) picked up the save as he threw the final inning and only gave up one hit.
Elizabethton is now 20-11 on the season and sits firmly at the top of the Appy League West. Elizabethton finished up its series with Burlington Thursday night and will be back at Joe O’Brien Field this Friday as the Twins begin a three-game series with Bristol.
