Curtis E. Estep

Curtis E. Estep, 94, of Piney Flats, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 5, 2018, from his residence. Curtis was born in Carter County to the late Charles Bruce Estep and Eliza A. Carden Estep. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister; his brother, Conley; and his sisters, Velma Fortner and Iva Lee Grindstaff.
Curtis retired from Paty Lumber Company after serving 50 years and later he worked at Builders First Source. He was a United States Army and Air Force Veteran, having served in World War II. Curtis attended Piney Flats First Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 38 years, Patricia “Patsy” Estep, of the home; his children, Portia Sams of Gray, Michael Estep of Monroe, N.C., Vickie Emery of Unicoi, Teresa Reed of Knoxville, Debbie Jessen of Lebanon, Tenn., Gayle McNutt of Blountville, David Jones of Carlton, Mich., and Theresa Marcus, of Piney Flats; and 40 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Curtis E. Estep will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, at Piney Flats First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Allen Davis and Pastor Greg Lovelace officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Graveside services will be private at Old Horseshoe Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Piney Flats First Baptist Church, 100 Cherry Street, Piney Flats, TN 37686.
