Brenda Vines Murillo

Brenda Vines Murillo, 64, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center. Brenda was born in Carter County to the late Fred I. Peters and Virginia McNeal Peters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Murillo Porras; a daughter, Patti Vines Wilson; and a brother, Darrell Peters.
Brenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She had worked as a CNA and was of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed visiting Gatlinburg, attending church and singing, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, children and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Brenda’s memories include a daughter, Lesha Markland of Elizabethton; two stepsons, Juan Pedro Murillo Ramirez and Felix Murillo Ramirez, both of Elizabethton; one step-daughter, Eva Murillo of Elizabethton; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, including two special great-grandchildren, Kennadee and Ivan; eight step-grandchildren; four sisters, Sue Montgomery and husband Leon, Evelyn Cole, Shelby Guy and Shelia Chapman and husband Gary, all of Elizabethton; four brothers, Eddie Peters and wife Deanna, David Cole, Junior Cole and Roger Cole and wife Crystal, all of Elizabethton; two special nieces, Maggie Odom and Kim Markland; and several other nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Brenda Vines Murillo will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, August 10, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Kim Casey and Pastor Nathan Jennings officiating. Music will be provided by the Sounds of Victory, Kim Casey and Tonya Casey. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or at the residence of her daughter, Lesha Markland, 165 Old Lacey Hollow Road, Elizabethton, or her sister, Sue Montgomery, 507 East Cottage Avenue, Apt. 8A, Elizabethton. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 11, in the Emmert Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Wilson, Joseph Wilson, Eddie Peters, Roger Cole, Junior Cole and David Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Montgomery and Gary Chapman. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Saturday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Cancer Society, 861 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909 or to the Erwin Holiness Church, 1600 N.
