Stephen Bateman, 59, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 26, 2018. A native of Carter County, he was the son of Martha Griffey. He was preceded in death by his beloved “Grannie,” Sylvia Stout.
Stephen graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1977. He loved to fish and was a friend to everyone, never knowing a stranger.
In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include son, Shane Bateman; sisters, Lora Griffey and Heather Crowley, Charlene Bateman and Lisa Huffman; niece and nephew, Nathan and Lily; special aunt and cousin, Rose Anne Bateman and Ronnie Berry; special friends, Bob Frazier, David Nave and Richard Nelson; and dog, Bella.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
