William Ray Moffitt

William Ray Moffitt, 66, of Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Born April 5, 1952 in Indianapolis, Ind., he was a son of the late Fred and Georgia Hern Moffitt. He had lived a number of years in Tennessee.
William was a retired tree trimmer and a former employee of American Limestone as a driller. He loved to fish and hunt.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his children, Paula Moffitt and wife Lisa Moffitt and Rebecca Lovell and husband Danny, all of Elizabethton, and William Moffitt Jr. and wife Lori, Greeneville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Samantha Holt and Raven Moffitt, both of Greeneville, Kaleb Hardin and Kristen Robinson, both of Elizabethton; three great-grandchildren, Addison Moffitt, Arayiah Holt and Jake Moffitt; the mother of his children, Cathy Moffitt; two brothers, Rob and Roy Moffitt; and two sisters, Jeanette and Carrie Ward.
The graveside service for William Ray Moffitt will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 11, in the Scalf Cemetery, Watauga, with Pastor Bud Malone and Father Timothy Holder officiating. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of ICU Sycamore Shoals Hospital. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be Kaleb Hardin, Landon Garland, Tony Moffitt, Rob Moffitt, Dylan Moffitt and Elex Moffitt. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of his daughter, Paula Moffitt, 704 4th Street, Elizabethton.
