Townsend leads Lady Cyclone past Central

The Lady Cyclones moved to 2-0 in the conference Tuesday after topping the Lady Cougars, 4-0, at Sullivan Central.
Elizabethton senior Abbey Townsend led the Lady Cyclones in scoring as she racked up two goals on the night.
Both EHS’s Kaylen Shell and Lexi Brown provide a goal each to the Lady Cyclones’ offensive attack.
Shell got the scoring started as she knocked in a shot off an assist from teammate Tessa Lamb with 22 minutes left in the first half. Towsend followed with seven minutes left in the first as she hit a goal on a free kick.
Brown got Elizabethton on board early in the second half as she beat a Lady Cougars defender to get a shot off.
Townsend finished off the scoring as she chipped a shot in against the Central’s goalkeeper.
Elizabethton is now 5-1 on the season. The Lady Cyclones host Dobyns-Bennett to Citizens Bank Stadium this evening.
