Billy D. Stevens, 78, of Hampton, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Elizabethton and was a son of the late Charles Ray and Anne Beryl Archer Stevens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Ray Stevens, James Foster Stevens and Archer Nelson Stevens, and a brother-in-law, Clyde Poarch.
Mr. Stevens was of the Freewill Baptist Faith.
Those left to cherish his memory include a brother, Lee Roy Stevens (Marlene) of Seattle, Wash.; three sisters, Hattie Bell Poarch of Elizabethton, Peggy Stevens of Hampton and Mary Lou Livingston (Richard) of Elizabethton; a special niece, Sue Pierce of Elizabethton; and a special friend, Lee Garland of Hampton. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, or at the home at other times. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, September, 12, at noon in the Johnson-Roanview Cemetery in Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Robert Archer, John Harmon, John Pierce, Jason Honeycutt, Bruce Stevens, Bud Stevens, Doug Stevens and Stacy Archer. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Livingston, Charles Sells and Will Hardy. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet the family at the cemetery at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday.
