Odell Shell, 94, of Roan Mountain, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018, at the Waters of Roan Highlands after an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Edward and Belva Miller Shell.
Mr. Shell was a retired employee of Tri-State Container. He was a member of Morgan Branch Free Will Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Hicks Shell, January 1, 1980, and by several sisters and brothers.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service for Mr. Shell will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, September 21, in the Richardson Cemetery, Roan Mountain, with the Rev. Tull Oaks Jr. and the Rev. John Henry McCoury officiating. Interment will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday or you may call at the residence of a nephew, Wayne Shell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Shell to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4255.
