Kathryne Ann McAlear

Kathryne Ann McAlear went to her heavenly home on Monday, October 29, 2018. Born June 16, 1923 in Slater, Mo., Kathryne Ann McAlear was the daughter of the late Archie Linwood Brown and Corinne Spencer Brown.
Kay was a 1940 graduate of Marshall High School in Marshall, Mo. On July 23, 1940 she married Albert I. McAlear Jr., who preceded her in death on December 16, 1981.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Marshall, Mo., and Chapter GY PEO in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Kay grew up in Missouri but lived in several other states throughout her life before moving to the Johnson City, Tenn. area in 2004, where she had lived since. Kay was a homemaker who enjoyed traveling, cooking, puzzles, and any opportunity for family gatherings or babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves a wonderful legacy and countless precious memories for them.
Kay attended First Christian Church in Johnson City when she was able to attend services. Over her lifetime, she served God’s church in many different roles and blessed many others. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Kay is survived by her five children, Ken McAlear and wife Virginia of Lake Lure, N.C., Jim McAlear and wife Carol of Wedowee, Ala., Tom McAlear and wife Ann of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Debbie McAlear of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Rodney McAlear and wife Dana of Tempe, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; 16 (soon-to-be-17) great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kay was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Cromwell, and three brothers, Milton Brown, Harley Brown and Richard Brown.
Services to celebrate her life are planned for Monday, November 5, in Marshall, Mo. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to First Christian Church or the First Christian Church “McAlear Scholarship Fund,” 130 North Jefferson Avenue, Marshall, MO 65340, or the charity of your choice.
