Phillip William Stevens, 72, of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018, at Signature Health Center. He was born April 2, 1946 in Hampton.
Phillip was a 1964 graduate of Hampton High School. He was employed for many years as a truck foreman at Summers-Taylor Inc. and retired from the Carter County Highway Department as a truck driver. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Phillip was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Harding Stevens; a son, Carl Wayne Stevens; his mother and step-father, Arizona Stevens Geisler and D.C. Geisler; and a sister, Geneva Frances Roberts.
Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Parlier; a son, Kenneth William Stevens, of the home; four grandchildren, Dustin Parlier, Brady Parlier and wife Shanna, Tyler Stevens and Alexandria Stevens; three great-grandchildren, Abagail, Easton and Brynlee; and his brother, Charles Geisler and wife Linda, Hampton.
Funeral services for Phillip William Stevens will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 15, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Kenneth Overdorf, minister, officiating. Music will be provided by Bobby McGee. The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, November 16, in the Spears Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday, will be Charles B. Geisler, Charles T. Geisler, Chris Geisler, Bobby Roberts, Dustin Parlier, Loel Markham, Tyler Stevens and Ricky Parlier. Honorary pallbearers will be Della Campbell, Bobby Rainbolt, Bobby McGee, J.D. Calhoun, Brady Parlier, and employees of the Carter County Highway Department. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Signature Health. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
