Betty Louise Hazelwood Estep

Betty Louise Hazelwood Estep, 88, of Hampton, passed away Monday, December 24, 2018, at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Edward S. and Nelle Smith Hazelwood.
Betty was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Dean “Bill” Estep, September 13, 2011; a brother, Carl Hazelwood; and two sisters, Fern Simerly and Demple Nave.
Survivors include her children, Judy Allred (Glen), Elizabethton, and Mike Estep (Gail), Johnson City; one granddaughter, Micah Boone; four great-grandchildren, Mike Johnson, Jagger Ritchie, Christian Boone and Melia Ritchie; two sisters, Cordia “Tootsie” Berry and Polly Grindstaff; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Betty Louise Hazelwood Estep will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 27, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Duncan and the Rev. Chris Hughes officiating. Music will be by Carl Lee Hazelwood. The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, December 28, in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Friday, will be Mike Johnson, Christian Boone, Fred Simerly, Mark Berry, Brent Grindstaff and Lester “Speck” Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Harmon, Gary Shingleton, Billy Berry, Adam Berry, Kenneth Rainbolt, Sam Grindstaff and David Grindstaff. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to her caregivers for the excellent care she received. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the home of her daughter, Judy Allred (Siam Community). Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Friday.
