The Elizabethton Cyclones were hoping to continue their hot play as they traveled south to Florida but ran into a stubborn Sunland team dropping only their second contest of the season, 44-38.
Elizabethton managed to take an uncharacteristic low-scoring 19-16 first half lead as the points were hard to come by on both sides.
Nico Ashley’s 5 points led all Cyclone scorers in the opening half with Brayden Phillips, Bryson Rollins, and Eric Wilson each collected 3 points apiece.
Sunland took control of the contest in the third quarter by outscoring the Cyclones 12-8 to edge out to a 28-27 lead and then closed out the game with a 16-11 final eight minutes hitting 9-of-13 from the charity stripe to seal the win.
Ashley and Perkins finished the game as the only double-digit scorers for the Cyclones hitting 11 and 10 points respectively.
Wilson finished with 5 points and Phillips 4 points while Rollins and Parker Hughes collected 3 points each.
Corbin Montgomery added a field goal for Elizabethton.
Knowles had 14 points to pace Sunland to the win.
