Ricky Glenn McClain, 63, of Elk Park, N.C., passed away Monday, January 7, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Henry and Gladys McKinney McClain.
Ricky was a 1975 graduate of Hampton High School where he was involved in all of the sports. He was a heavy equipment operator. He loved the outdoors and creating his own special crafts. Ricky was an avid UT Fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Fay Wright.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Teresa Beam McClain; two children, Chasty Whittington, Newland, N.C., and Shatonna Ward, Johnson City; four grandchildren, Chelsey Kirkpatrick, Chase Kirkpatrick, Blake Beam and Autumn Church, and two other grandchildren; and two brothers, Bobby McClain (Carol), Hampton, and Wayne McClain (Camie), Elizabethton.
A memorial service for Ricky Glenn McClain will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 10, at Hampton Christian Church with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, minister, officiating. Music will be provided by Debbie Edwards. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hampton Christian Church, 810 Deerfield Lane, Hampton, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Ricky to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 299605-4255.
