On Friday, January 25, 2019, Ruth Ann Peters, precious mother and wife, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 71.
Ruth was born on April 13, 1947 in Elizabethton, Tenn., to James Cress and Winona June Gentry Houston. She graduated from Unaka High School and married Thomas Charles Treadway Jr., giving birth to a daughter, Jennifer.
Ruth was a true prayer warrior, very passionate about the Lord and had a very giving nature that enabled her to have many friends and blessings upon her life. She was quick to reach out and help others and pray for their needs to be met. She had such a sweet spirit about her that people wanted to be a part of her family. She will be deeply missed.
Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas, who was killed in the Vietnam War, her father, James, and her mother, Winona June (lovingly referred to as Maw-Maw).
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, David of Elizabethton; her daughter, Jennifer Ann Treadway of Rustburg, Va.; one sister, Gladys and husband Bert Plummer of Elizabethton; two nieces, Joyce Davena and husband Ray Smith of Albuquerque, N.M., and Veronica Ann and husband Timothy Osborne of Erwin; one nephew, Roland Eugene Blankenship of Elizabethton; one sister-in-law, Brenda Treadway Holland; several cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews; her mother-in-law, Alice Peters and extended Peters family; her sweet dog, Scarlett Rose; and her grand furbabies, Abbey, Bailey Zoe and Lilly May.
Special acknowledgements to Laurie Hyatt, Lynn Thomason, and Becki Baez, who Ruth always felt close to and loved like a part of the family. Betty Hopson and Elaine Hooker for their unwavering friendship given to Ruth for many blessed years. Thank you to all of our special friends and family who have shown tremendous support and gracious love.
A very special thank you expressed by the family to Becki Baez, Elaine Hooker, Bethel Church, Dr. Kenneth Hopland, Johnson City Medical Center and Alyssa Carter, RN in the Emergency Department. God bless you for your kindness and support.
