James Anthony Mazza Jr., 68, of Johnson City, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at his home. He was born on February 6, 1951 in Clarksburg, W.Va., to the late James Anthony Mazza Sr. and Opal Mazza. On August 12, 1978, he united in marriage to Mary Bruce Mongle.
James graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Industrial Management and a second degree in Marketing. After graduation, he joined Ortho Pharmaceutical Company which is part of the Johnson & Johnson Corporation and formed his lifelong career. During his career, he won three President’s Trophy Awards as well as an Outstanding Sales Representative of the Year award. Jim greatly enjoyed his friends, golfing, boating and spending time with his dogs.
James is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Mary Bruce Mazza of Johnson City, Tenn.; dear friends, John, Michele and Gracie Somich, Todd Jones, Lindsey Craver, Tom and Linda Jernigan and many other close friends left behind to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for James Anthony Mazza Jr. will be conducted at Tetrick Funeral Services of Johnson City on Monday, February 4, at 11 a.m. with Andrew Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery in Bristol, Tenn., with John Somich, Urs Gsteiger, Todd Jones, Dr. Lindsey Craver and Dr. T. Watson Jernigan serving as pallbearers. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, after 10 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m. Immediately following the funeral service and prior to the burial, the family will be hosting a celebration of life luncheon in loving memory of James in the Sunset Room at the funeral home.
